Training Provider Learning Curve, has now acquired its publishing partner, Learning at Work (LaW). Learning at Work, which is based in Leeds, is a market leading publisher of high quality learning materials. In 12/13 over 90,000 learners used their materials to gain nationally recognised qualifications, including all of the learners at Learning Curve. This acquisition will enable both companies to work even more closely moving forward to enhance the range of products and services that they can offer providers, employers and learners.
Learning at Work will join Learning Curve and Learning Curve Skill Centres to create a new integrated business, which will be called the ‘Learning Curve Group’. Although all part of the same Group, each of the trading companies will retain its established branding, web presence and management structures. Learning at Work will continue to operate out of its current Leeds HQ.
Judith Moran, Chair and Chief Executive of the new Learning Curve Group believes there is a great deal of synergy between the two companies that will be beneficial to delivery partners and learners, “There is a very strong strategic fit between delivery and publishing, so this exciting development is a great opportunity to create a new integrated, high quality FE sector business.”
Jon Cummins set up Learning at Work in 2009 and will continue to run the business as Managing Director. Jon will also have a wider Group role as Commercial Director which will involve leading on product development and sales to Colleges and other training providers.
Jon believes that this move is a fantastic opportunity for Learning at Work, “We are delighted to be joining Learning Curve as it is one of the most successful training providers in the country. I’m confident that the new Group will have a very strong presence in the FE market given the breadth of high quality products and services it offers.”
The new Learning Curve Group management team will be attending the upcoming AoC Annual conference in Birmingham, 19-21 November. They will be available to meet colleagues from the FE sector throughout the event at their exhibition stand (21 in the Main Hall).
