Getting Functional with NCFE Functional Skills

Monday 20 October 2014

The reforms and changes to Functional Skills has been a talking point for over 2 years now and we still see these as a key feature in many government conversations and debates.

Most recently, Skills Minister Nick Boyles has stated his full support to bring back and re-iterate the importance of Functional Skills.  Mr Boyles’ aim is to work with Ofqual to improve the elements of these qualifications and allow colleges to have the option to offer their learners the choice of either a Functional Skill qualification or a GCSE.

NCFE is in full support of these changes and we see Functional Skills as a valid option for learners looking to progress in their education choices and/or career.  When it comes to learning, one size doesn’t fit all.  Being able to offer a different yet rigorous and quality assured alternative method is a great example of being able to provide a tailored programme of learning.

NCFE’s Functional Skills are online, on demand and supported by exceptional customer service – the NCFE way! The qualifications are designed to provide learners with the chance to gain useful, transferable skills in English, maths and ICT to help them function confidently, effectively and independently in the workplace and life in general.

NCFE’s Functional Skills qualifications are suitable for a wide range of individuals aged 14 and above who’d like to develop their English, Maths and ICT skills.  We want to play our part in helping people progress in their further education and work, and we believe the quality of our Functional Skills qualifications can help to support learners achieve their ambition.
