Stepping from learning into work

Thursday 10 April 2014

In 2011, the REED NCFE partnership developed a suite of ‘next generation’ employability qualifications called ‘Job Search and Interview Skills’. These qualifications were developed in response to feedback from thousands of employers surveyed and were created to help learners stand out from the crowd in the jobs market. The qualifications were specifically designed to equip students with the mindset as well as the skills to find and secure the right job for them and to assist them with the move from learning to work.

As well as covering the essential employability themes, such as job search techniques, CVs, interview skills, they also equip students with the knowledge to understand their particular labour market and to appreciate the importance of mindset to employers. Students learn how to develop the right mindset and how to display this within job applications and interviews.

Since the launch of the Job Search and Interview Skills qualifications in 2011, the REED NCFE suite of qualifications has expanded, with Job Search and Employability Skills being launched in 2013 and more recently Job Search and Employment Potential in February 2014.

The full suite of REED NCFE qualifications have been designed to provide learners with the skills needed to get them into sustained employment and as part of these qualifications, learners will be able to identify realistic job goals, understand those skills and qualities which are most attractive to employers, apply for jobs within the open and closed job markets, secure and prepare for a job interview and most importantly, gain sustained employment.
