NCFE wins HR&D Team of the Year at CIPD awards

Thursday 18 June 2015

NCFE has won the prestigious HR&D Team of the Year award at the CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards 2015.

We attended the awards ceremony on Thursday 11 June at the Hilton Gateshead, and were delighted to accept the award, which was awarded to us for our HR and development initiatives that benefit NCFE and our staff.

Our talent strategy, which includes developing upcoming leaders in the business and our rewards and benefits, was highlighted in our CIPD win. We were also congratulated on our colleague engagement, and the importance we place on performance management and staff development.

The judging panel was made up of esteemed representatives from national companies including Andy Hill, Sage’s global talent director; Steve Morton, Virgin Money’s head of people and organisational development; Adrienne McFarland, Nestle’s head of centres and expertise and Julia Smith of GE Oil and Gas. Group HR director of local company Northumbrian Water, Sarah Salter, was also on  the panel.

“The 2015 judging process took a slightly different approach to previous years as we assembled a top panel of judges that bring expert specialisms in the HR&D world to the table. Together with the CIPD committee they have done a fantastic job in analysing a group of excellent entries, and I thank them all for that,” said Elouise Leonard Cross, chair of the CIPD North East of England Branch.

Our HRD Manager, Lisa Thompson, said of the award: “It was an honour to receive the CIPD HR&D Team of the Year award – the most coveted of the evening – in recognition of all the hard work we’ve put into our Shine talent programme, improving our rewards and benefits, and our colleague engagement. We had a fantastic time at the award ceremony and thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all the great HRD work going on around the North East. We’re very ambitious and our award has encouraged us to improve what we do for the benefit of our highly valued people at NCFE even further, building on the success of the last few years.”
