Taking the next step

Wednesday 23 March 2016

Currently, there are many year 11 pupils studying Technical Award qualifications and looking towards their future after school. Soon enough, they’ll be enrolling at post-16 institutions with these qualifications for September 2016 starts. These qualifications are valuable to our learners and we want to make sure they’re recognisable to you.

NCFE’s V Certs are rigorous, vocational GCSE-equivalent qualifications designed to sit alongside the GCSE curriculum. These engaging qualifications are recognised as Technical Awards and provide the perfect foundation for progression onto Level 3 qualifications and Apprenticeships.

Available in a wide range of vocational areas, it’s no wonder more and more schools are seeing these qualifications as a valuable addition to their Key Stage 4 curriculum.

But why are these qualifications relevant to Further Education?

  • These qualifications are equivalent to a GCSE on the school performance tables and are graded, so you can be assured of exactly what level a learner is performing at before they begin their FE course at college/sixth form.
  • They contain both synoptic and external assessment, so you can be confident that learners with V Cert qualifications have a sound understanding of how to apply their skills and knowledge in a particular vocational area. This will enable progression to a range of both academic and vocational post-16 courses.
  • V Certs aid individual learner engagement, confidence and achievement, setting them up for success in their further study.
  • Learners who've completed V Cert qualifications will have taken part in project and theme based learning and assessment, preparing them well for the independent nature of further study.
  • We’ve used our extensive history of working with you, our post-16 providers, to ensure that V Cert qualifications put learners on the right footing should they choose to pursue further education with you.
