Funding update

Friday 01 April 2016

The Skills Funding Agency (SFA) has now published its updated list of qualifications eligible for 19-23 year olds to take as part of their Legal Entitlement to a first full Level 2 and first full Level 3, following its consultation to add qualifications to the non-core list.

We submitted 15 qualifications in February for the SFA’s consideration and the good news is that the following qualifications will be added to the non-core list:

  • NCFE Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Taxi and Private Hire) (600/0827/1)
  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport (601/3037/4)
  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Knowledge and Skills (601/3255/3)
  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Creative Media (601/4761/1).

Unfortunately, the other 11 qualifications we submitted aren’t currently fundable under the Legal Entitlement. However, it’s worth remembering that Legal Entitlement funding accounts for just 10% of the overall Adult Education Budget (AEB), and there’s a chance that these qualifications may still be funded under Local Flexibility next year. The SFA Hub will be updated in April with this information.

We now have 21 NCFE and CACHE qualifications on the non-core list and 2 on the core list for 2016-2017.
