GCSEs in England are set to be overhauled, with exams graded from 8 to 1 rather than A* to G. It is proposed that the new-style exams will be brought in from 2015 and will spell the end of continuous assessment with a move towards final exams.GCSE Students

Students will face more rigorous content and the format will be similar to O-Levels. The reforms will initially apply to a group of 9 core subjects.

Wales and Northern Ireland are not adopting the changes proposed for England.

At a time of great transition in the education sector, the latest change could potentially be unsettling for pupils, parents and teaching staff. But what do you think? Will the changes address concerns about grade inflation? Is the new style of learning the best way to test young people’s skills and knowledge? Will it adequately prepare them for the competitive labour market?
