It was great to catch up with many of you during the AoC conference last month. I hope those of you who attended were able to find a few spare moments during conference’s packed itinerary to drop by the NCFE stand to pick up your education elephant and thumb through our recently published digital Directory of Products and Services.

With the end of the calendar year looming, I always find the conference provides a valuable opportunity to reflect with colleagues over the events of the past 12 months and discuss the challenges facing the sector for the following year.

As expected, the effect of the upcoming general election took centre stage as the key topic of discussion, and the political parties’ stances on vocational education. Encouragingly, there was a cross-party consensus on the value of Apprenticeships, with each party promising a significant increase in the number of learners taking an apprenticeship in the coming years.

Other hot topics included the curriculum from 2015 onwards – what can you build into your programmes of study, and how can NCFE help you? The focus was also on quality English and maths qualifications, with employers seeing these skills as more important than ever.

Take a look at our video at the bottom of the page recapping some of the event highlights.

If you didn’t attend the AoC conference or would like to further discuss some of the conversations you had with us, please feel free to get in touch with our Business Development team to arrange a meeting or have a discussion over the phone.
