The build-up to the general election has seen the topic of childcare discussed by all of the major political parties. Various pledges have been made in relation to accessing childcare, some of the highlights of these are;

Labour: Labour want to ensure all primary schools guarantee access to childcare from 8am-6pm, and also extend free childcare from 15 to 25 hours for working parents of 3 and 4 year-olds.

Conservatives: 30 hours a week of free childcare for 3 and 4 year-olds, and an additional 600,000 free childcare places.

Liberal Democrats: The party will introduce 15 hours free childcare a week from the end of paid parental leave.

The Green Party: The party will build a free but voluntary universal early education and childcare service for all children from birth until compulsory education age.

UKIP: Will "honour existing childcare voucher and tax-free childcare schemes"

As you can see, all political parties here want to increase childcare in some way for children from birth up until compulsory school age; hopefully this will increase demands for people to be qualified in childcare and create more employment opportunities in this area.

The NCFE Level 3 Diploma For The Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) is supported by the National College for Teaching and Leadership, who are sponsored by the Department for Education and their aim is to improve the quality of the education and early years workforce. This qualification is designed for learners who work, or wish to work with children from birth to 5 years old in a variety of settings.
