An update on the outstanding qualifications for the 2017 performance tables.
We’ve already given you an update on the existing and new V Certs that have made it onto the 2017 Key Stage 4 performance tables but we wanted to give you a further update on the qualifications that we’re still waiting to hear from the (DfE) on and those that didn’t make the initial published list. So to help we’ve produced the below list:
V Cert Level 1 & 2 Certificate in Engineering Studies
At this stage the qualification has not made it to the list but we’re appealing to the DfE and hope to find out the results of this appeal in February 2015.
We will know the outcome of the Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Studies submission in January 2015.
V Cert Level 1 & 2 Certificate in Computer Technology
The qualifications are valid on the 2016 tables but the submission for the 2017 tables has been rejected because with the implementation of Progress 8, Computer Science is counted as an Ebacc subject and Technical Awards such as V Certs can’t overlap. NCFE is not the only awarding organisation to face this outcome and we’re looking to see what we can do to appeal against the DfE decision. We’ll be sure to update you on the progress with these 2 particular qualifications early next year. If your school is already running the Computer Technology qualifications we’ll be in touch with you directly as soon as we have further information. In the meantime we can confirm that the decision on the 2017 tables doesn’t impact those submissions for the 2016 tables.
V Cert Level 1 Certificate in Food and Cookery, Level 1 Certificate in Health and Fitness and Level 1 Certificate in Engineering
We are still awaiting the published list of new Level 1 qualifications and will know the results of this in January 2015.
Level 1 Certificate in Music Technology
The Level 1 Certificate in Music Technology has not yet been approved for the 2017 tables but we’re working with the DfE to get this qualification recognised and are confident the it will be included in the updated list due to be published in February 2015.
The Level 2 V Cert in Music Technology is unaffected and will count in the 2017 tables.
We’ll update our website as soon as we know more information and will also include ongoing updates in our school e-newsletter.
